Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
The short answer is no. Dr. Brannon and Dr. Weiser do not work for the insurance companies, so there are not the same limitations on being able to care for your child. Instead of paying a copay every time you come to the office, you pay the monthly membership. There are no hidden fees or charges later for being seen. If testing is done, you will know the cost prior to having the test done.
Do you take medicaid patients?
Yes, because insurance (or lack of insurance) doesn’t matter with direct patient care. However, Dr. Mom Pediatrics does not bill Medicaid, and the monthly membership still applies.
Do I still need insurance?
Direct Patient Care is not insurance, and does not cover any type of catastrophic/hospital care. Although the goal is to mitigate ER visits through good preventative medicine, accidents happen. We recommend at least a high deductible health plan or being part of a health sharing ministry to cover those unexpected high cost trips to the ER or emergency hospitalizations. Speak with your insurance representative to find out which plan is right for you.
How long will an appointment last?
The simple answer is as long as it needs to. Most appointments will be between 30-60 minutes of face to face time with your pediatrician. This will allow ample time to ask and answer questions.
Do you have an office?
At this time, Dr. Mom Pediatrics is solely home visit based. There may be an office location in the future, but that will be determined based on patient and practice needs.
What if I want to stop and restart my membership?
There is no initial enrollment fee charged. However, if you decide to stop and restart; there is a re-enrollment fee of $100 per family.
How is my membership billed?
It is billed automatically with a credit or debit card on file. If you pay yearly, you may pay by check, credit or debit card. There is also a 5% discount if you pay yearly.
What if my child gets sick while we are on vacation?
If the illness is appropriate to handle over a virtual visit, then Dr. Weiser or Dr. Brannon will do so. Any needed prescriptions can be sent to the pharmacy of your choice.
What about when Dr. Lemley is on vacation?
Both Dr. Weiser and Dr. Brannon will make sure that you have been notified well in advance of any vacation, so that any needed visits can be taken care of appropriately. There may still be some contact available with your physician, and they intend to cover for each other in the event of an absence. Needless to say, every effort will be made to have a covering physician available.
